- Articles, videos, and content you like or save
- Content you have viewed (used to avoid showing you the same content twice)
- App usage events such as screen views, scrolling behavior, and feature interactions, collected via PostHog for product analytics
- Device type and operating system (collected as part of analytics)
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your precise GPS location
- We do not access your contacts, camera, or microphone
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Personalize your content feed based on your selected interests
- Remember content you have already seen so it is not shown again
- Save and display your liked and bookmarked content
- Analyze how users interact with the App so we can improve it

4. Third-Party Services
Sift uses the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Supabase — Our backend database and authentication provider. Your account credentials and app data are stored and processed by Supabase. See their privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy.

- YouTube — The App surfaces YouTube video content. YouTube videos are governed by Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
- RSS News Sources — Article content is fetched from third-party RSS feeds. We do not share your personal information with these sources.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and preferences for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including secure HTTPS connections and industry-standard database security provided by Supabase. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
Sift is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
